What is Gwerddon?
Gwerddon is a Welsh-medium academic e-journal.
Gwerddon is published twice a year and issues include articles across a wide range of subjects in the Arts, Humanities, and Sciences.
The journal has two main aims: to stimulate and encourage first-class academic discussion across as wide a range of subjects as possible through the medium of Welsh, and thereby to create a store of scholarly material for the use of research students and academics.
Gwerddon conforms to the guidelines of the REF, creating work of an international standard which is peer reviewed.
The editor of Gwerddon is Professor Anwen Jones, Pro-vice Chancellor of Aberystwyth University. She is assisted by the deputy editor, Dr Hywel Griffiths, and by an Editorial Board of ten academics who represent a range of disciplines and universities.
Abstracts are provided in English for the benefit of those who aren’t fluent in Welsh. If you need additional help understanding unfamiliar terms, please refer to various websites such as Y Porth Termau or Y Termiadur Addysg.
Gwerddon welcomes original articles in Welsh. If you are learning Welsh and need additional support, please contact gwybodaeth@gwerddon.cymru to discuss further.
Gwerddon was first published in 2007. It is funded by the Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol.
